For the 4th straight year the Emporia High boys golf team is headed to state. The Spartans finished in first place in the Shawnee Heights hosted regional Monday.
Individually, for Emporia High, Gentry Scheve took medalist honors with a 73. Collin Hopkins finished in 3rd place with an 80, Caleb Schmid finished in 9th place with a 88 and Garyn Fisher finished in 13th place with a 92. The 5A State golf tournament will be played next Monday at Dubs Dread in Kansas City.
The Olpe boys are also headed to State. The Eagles finished in 2nd place behind Pittsburg Colgan at the 2A regional played at the Emporia Golf Course. Garrett Pimple had the low score for Olpe finishing 3rd with a 79. Kaden Redeker finished in 6th place with a 81, Wyatt Schulz finished in 12th place with a 94 and Jacob Argabrite finished in 14th place with a 98. Lyndons Steven Steggs qualified as an individual, he finished in 13th place with a 96. 2A state will be played at Crestwood Country Club at Pittsburg.
Hartfords Kolten Neil qualified for 1A state. He finished in 13th place with a 110 at the Hutchinson Central Christian regional.
Trenton Plinsky of Osage City qualified for 3A state. He finished in 5th place at the Council Grove Regional.
