A free training workshop being offered this week at Emporia State University could be life-changing and potentially could help save the life of someone in danger.
Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention is offering the two-day ASIST training workshop Thursday and Friday at the Memorial Union – Miller Room. ASIST stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. Beacon for Hope Executive Director Melissa Kurtenbach says ASIST teaches participants when to recognize the warning signs when someone might be in danger.
The training is intense, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days and made possible through a grant paid from by Headquarters Inc. and fundraising through past Beacon for Hope efforts.
The training is open to anyone 16 or older and a few spots remain. The deadline to register is Tuesday, by emailing melissa@hopelinks.org.
