The Emporia State baseball team has received an at large bid to the NCAA Central Regional tournament after finishing in 2nd place at the MIAA tournament.
The Hornets will open the regional Thursday against the number 1 seed and host Southern Arkansas. First pitch is set for 1:30p. This is the 5th straight season the Hornets have reached the NCAA Tournament and 14th time overall.
The other regional games have Central Missouri playing Oklahoma Baptist.
Central Oklahoma plays St. Cloud State.
Pittsburg State plays Augustana.
Emporia State was defeated by Central Missouri 2-1 in the MIAA championship game. Bryce Fischer scored the games first run on a wildpitch. Central Missouri Tied the game in the 7th inning and scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th to walk off with the win.
The Hornets advanced to the championship game by defeating Pittsburg State 11-5. Mack Gowing scored 3 runs and drove in 3 runs. Bryce Fischer finished with 2 RBI. The Hornets took command with a 4 run 5th inning.
Going into the regional Emporia State has won 10 of their last 13 games.
