Free Landfill Days wrapped up Sunday for Lyon and Chase County residents.
In addition to the event being a week shorter, there were some major changes made to this year’s event such as residents of both counties only being allowed one free trip instead of two. Solid Waste Supervisor Keith Senn tells KVOE News this year’s turnout was only slightly less than what they saw last year.
One change many customers took advantage of was being able to use a smartphone to present their April electric bill rather than presenting a hard copy. Senn says he believes the changes helped meet the goals they sought out to achieve.
The department is already discussing changes for next year. Senn says one issue they hope to address is long lines that tend to develop on last day of the event.
