The Emporia City Commission has a light agenda for its study session this week.
Three items will be discussed including a proposed ordinance regarding the tethering of dogs within the city. The ordinance would prohibit tethering a dog for more than two continuous hours and more than four total hours per day. The ordinance also would more clearly define what is and is not acceptable. The ordinance proposal is supported by the Humane Society of the Flint Hills.
The city commission will receive an update from soil testing at Peter Pan Park from the site of the old city pool. This comes as the city looks into repurposing the site for the possible development of a pickleball court and associated parking.
In addition, the city commission will discuss whether or not the Storm Water Utility could potentially be a funding source for drainage issues. The study session begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Conference Room 1AB at White Auditorium.
