The Emporia High baseball team held on for a 5-3 win over Garden City Friday night in the Emporia Round Ball Classic.
The Spartans scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning. Jace Stewart drove in 2 of the runs. Skyler Beatty and Hayden Baumwart singled in runs. Beatty drove in a run in the 3rd inning. He also earned the save.
Cade Kohlmeier was the winning pitcher going 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts.
The Spartans will play Mill Valley Saturday afternoon with first pitch set for 1:30 at Sodens Grove.
In Fridays other games Andover Central out scored Bishop Meige 11-2. Maize South won a pitchers duel over Mill Valley 1-0.
Saturdays games begin at 10am at the Sodens Grove with Bishop Miege playing Maize South.
