Mookie Betts hit 3 home runs to power the Boston Red Sox past the Kansas City Royals 5-4 Wednesday.
Danny Duffy gave up the 5 runs on 10 hits. J.D. Martinez also hit a homerun for the Red Sox. The Royals scored a run in the first inning and 2 runs in the 2nd inning to build a 3-0 lead. Duffy held Boston scoreless thru the first 3 innings. The Red Sox tied the game with 3 runs in the 4th and scored single runs in the 5th and 7th inning. Cheslor Cuthbert hit a solo home run in the 8th for the Royals.
The Royals host the Detroit Tigers Thursday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:15p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
Mike Moustakas and Jakob Junis were named the rRoyals player and pitcher for the month of April. Moustakas hit 8 homeruns, finished with 19 RBI and had a 14 game hitting streak during April. Junis was 3-2 with a 3.34 ERA and opponents had a .181 batting average in 5 starts.
