Jobless rates remain low across Kansas as a whole.
The Department of Labor says March unemployment stayed flat at 3.4 percent when compared to February. There was an increase in nonfarm jobs by 2,100 from February, and private-sector jobs increased by 2,200 month-to-month.
Across our area, Emporia’s jobless rate was 3.6 percent, down from 3.9 percent in February and 4.1 percent from a year ago. Lyon County’s rate was also 3.6 percent, down fro man even 4 percent last month and 4.1 percent a year ago.
Morris County has the lowest unemployment rate areawide at 2.7 percent. Coffey County has the highest jobless rate at 4.6 percent.
