Westar Energy crews responded to a power outage first reported Monday afternoon shortly before 4:30 p.m near the Emporia Country Club.
Officials tell KVOE News that equipment failure involving an insulator on 18th Ave. between East Wilman Court and Rural Street was the reason nearly 400 customers lost power.
Power was restored to about half of the residents by 6:30 p.m. with full restoration about an hour later.

Westar Energy is investigating after a power outage was reported Monday in north Emporia.
This is affecting areas north and south of 18th Ave. between Lincoln Street east to Merchant. Westar Energy reports that nearly 400 customers are currently without power. Originally it was estimated that the outage would be restored by 6 p.m. but on-site crews were re-evaluating the situation.
