Nearly five months after the Lyon County Senior Center needed emergency funds to keep operating, the investigation continues into where the money went.
In late November, Lyon County Department on Aging Director Erin Starr approached county commissioners, saying nearly $9,000 was needed after financial shortfalls were noted. That money came out of the Senior Center’s emergency fund.
Emporia Police have been investigating the case. No arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are not offering further comment at this time, and Lyon County officials are withholding comment until the case is resolved. County Commissioner Scott Briggs says no additional tax dollars were spent to shore up the Senior Center’s financial situation.
