The American Legion Post No. 5 hosted its 20th annual potato bar fundraiser for summer baseball teams Saturday, and turnout was heavy.
Spokesman Ron Whitney talked about preparation for the event.
Whitney says they exceeded expectations by serving over 400 potatoes in the three-hour period.
Proceeds go to help fund the Emporia American Legion baseball teams, and head coach Anthony Markowitz spoke how funds benefit the team and players.
Markowitz says the Legion has been supporting two teams each summer, with kids not only from Emporia but from all over the area participating.
