A tattoo fundraiser created permanent reminders of the ongoing battle against suicide.
Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention teamed up with Maud’s Tattoo Shop in Emporia Sunday to host the first tattoo fundraiser for suicide prevention. Maud’s artists John Armstrong and Joel Smith created 24 original designs with many incorporating a semi colon, a symbol which signifies the continuation of a story where it could have ended. The cost of the tattoos were $60.
Beacon for Hope Executive Director Melissa Kurtenbach explains what the proceeds will go towards.
Maud’s artist/owner John Armstrong says he is honored to be a part of the event and believes it can help create hope in those who are constantly battling depression.
