The Emporia State football team wrapped up spring practices with the spring game Saturday.
Team Hornets out scored team Stingers up 13-6. Sophomore Pat Briningstool threw 2 touchdown passes, one to Kyle Harrison and the other to Seth Surface. Red-shirt freshman Sam Dobbins kicked fieldgoals of 33 and 32 yards for the Stingers up team.
Coach Garin Higgins was pleased with the progress made by the defense.
Senior to be Kia Callins said it was a good spring.
Earlier Saturday in the Legends game the Gold squad out scored the Black squad 44-43. The Gold squad MVP was Mitchell Foote who caught 2 touchdown passes, an extra point and threw a touchdown pass. The Black squad MVP was Tony Phillips who threw for 215 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Emporia State will kick-off the 2018 season at Northeastern State on August 30th.
