The Emporia High baseball team split a doubleheader with Washburn Rural Tuesday night.
Rural won the first game 9-8. Emporia High was leading 5-3 when Washburn Rural scored 6 runs in the 4th. The Spartans tried to rally scoring 3 runs in the 7th. Hayden Baumwart drove in 2 runs for Emporia High. Beau Baumgardner was 3 for 5 with an RBI.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 7-6. Emporia High jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Washburn Rural rallied with 4 runs in the 3rd and took the lead with 2 runs in the 4th. The Spartans re-took the lead with 2 runs in the 6th. Jace Stewart drove in the go ahead run. He finished with 2 RBI. Beau Baumgardner was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
The Spartans are now 2-6 for the season. They will host Highland Park Friday night.
