The inaugural Quilts of Gratitude drawing is now about six weeks away, and fundraising continues to benefit the quilters who donate their time and money making special coverings for veterans.
Spokesperson Rosaetta Fields says a cadre of quilters will donate their handiwork to veterans as part of Emporia’s annual All Veterans Tribute every November.
In the process of making a quilt, group members pay all costs out of pocket — so KVOE, Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill and Waters have partnered together to donate $600 to offset expenses for the “Thank You Troops” quilt now on display at Waters.
Suggested donations are $5 for one chance to win or $10 for three chances. Tickets are available at the Chamber, Waters True Value and KVOE.
The drawing will be May 30.
