The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Newman Tuesday.
Newman won the first game 3-2. The Lady Hornets scored an unearned run in the first. Newman scored 2 runs in the 4th to take a 2-1 lead. Destiny Ojigoh hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game at 2. Newman added a run in the 6th to retake the lead.
Emporia State won the 2nd game 5-1. Kelsey Phillips was the winning pitcher giving up the 1 run on 4 hits.
The Emporia State softball has also announced a schedule change for this weekend. Due to the forcast for inclement weather they will now play Southwest Baptist Thursday and Central Missouri Friday.
