The Emporia State baseball team powered past Nebraska Kearney 12-8 Sunday.
The Hornets scored 3 runs in the first inning. Kearney tied the game with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd. Emporia State answered with a 5 run 3rd, scoring all 5 runs with 2 outs to take a lead they would not give up. Brian Grove was 5 for 6 for Emporia State with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. He hit 1 of 3 homeruns for Emporia State.
Bryce Fischer was 3 for 3 with a homerun. Trevor Turner also hit a homerun for the Hornets. Mack Gowing drove in 3 runs. Kearneys Alex Achtermann hit for the cycle to led the Lopers. The two teams wrap up the series Monday afternoon with first pitch set for 1pm at the Trusler Sports Complex.
