For the 2nd time in the last 3 years Villanova will play for the NCAA mens basketball championship. The Wildcats defeated Kansas 95-79 in the semi-finals Saturday.
Kansas Coach Bill Self said they lost to a superior team.
Villnova made 13 three-point field goals in the first half, and made 18 for the game. The Wildcats led by 15 at halftime and by 22 in the second half. Kansas scored the games first points, then Villanova went on an 11-0 run and never trailed the rest of the way. Malik Newman said that was to much to overcome.
Kansas had 3 players score in double-figures led by Devonte Graham with 23 points.
Malik Newman finished with 21 points and Svi Mykhailiuk added 10. Villanova had 6 players score in double-figures led by Eric Paschall with 24 points.
Kansas finishes the season with a record of 31-8.
Villanova will play Michigan in Mondays Championship game.
Michigan trailed by as many as 10 in the second half before going on a 22-10 run and out scored Loyola-Chicago 69-57.
The Championship game will be played Monday night and be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
