The Emporia State baseball team defeated Pittsburg State 3-1 in the final game of a 3 game series to avoid being swept by the Gorillas.
Emporia State scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning on a Mason Brown single and a error. The Hornets scored the final run in the 9th inning on a bases loaded walk. Tanner Cairns was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. Mason Leclair earned the save, pitching 3 innings, giving up 2 hits and struck out 3. The Hornets are now 10-9 for the season amd 4-5 in the MIAA. They scheduled to host Minnesota Duluth next Saturday and Sunday.
