The Kansas Jayhawks advanced to the Big-12 tournament championship game after they out scored Kansas State 83-67 in the semi-finals Friday night.
Coach Bill Self was happy to get the win.
Malik Newman poured in 22 points to led Kansas.
Devonte Graham added 15 points and Svi Mykhailiuk had 12 to lead Kansas.
Kansas State played without Dean Wade who was out with a foot injury and lost Barry Brown early in the game when he suffered an eye injury. Coach Bruce Weber liked the way players answered the challenge with Wade and Brown out of the game.
For Kansas State Makol Mawien stepped up with a career-high 29 points, and Xavier Sneed scored 12.
Kansas will play West Virginia in the Championship game. West Virginia won 66-63 over Texas Tech in the second semi-final. Devonte Graham says they need to continue to play with confidence.
