It was a rough day for the Emporia State baseball team. They were swept by Pittsburg State in a doubleheader Friday.
Pittsburg State won the first game of the baseball doubleheader 15-12. The Hornets trailed 11-2 before scoring 7 runs in the 5th. The would try to rally with a run in the 7th and 2 runs in the 9th. Mack Gowing and Bryce Fischer were both 3 for 5 with 2 RBI. Brian Grove drove in 2 runs and Tanner Ast hit a solo homerun in the 9th.
Pittsburg State won the 2nd game 5-2. Emporia State tied the game at 1 in with a run in the 4th inning on a single by Kaden Shaffer. Pittsburg State took the lead with a run in 5th and added 3 runs in the 6th. The Hornets tried to rally scoring a run in the 8th when Tate Kastens scored on a sacrifice.
The two teams wrap up the 3 game series Saturday afternoon.
