The Burlingame Bearcats were defeated 53-40 by Salina Sacred Heart in the opening round of the boys 2A state tournament.
The Knights would open the scoring taking a commanding 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never trailed. Burlingame would trail 32-20 going into halftime and managed to cut the lead to eight in the third quarter before Salina Sacred Heart would increase the lead to 13 and never look back.
Burlingame was led in scoring by seniors Colton Noonan with 12 points and Jake Thompson who earned a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Burlingame Head Coach Creighton Winters says his team just wasn’t able to find a rhythm from the floor.
Burlingame ends their season with a record of 20-3.
The Hartford girls won their first ever State tournament game defeating Hutchinson Central Christian 53-42 at the 1A Division II tournament at Dodge City Thursday. They will play Axtell in the semi-finals Friday in the 3pm game. Axtell out scored Beloit St. John-Tipton 66-64. The other semi-final has Quinter playing Cunningham.
The Olpe girls will play Valley Heights in the 6:30 game at the 2A tournament. That game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
The Other 2A girls semi-final has Central Plains playing Hill City.
At the 4A Division II tournament, being played at White Auditorium in Emporia, in boys first round games:

Fridays Semi-finals:
Marysville girls play Andale at 3pm.
