Kansas State will play Kansas Friday in the Big-12 mens basketball tournament semi-finals after both teams picked up wins inthe quarterfinals Thursday.
The Wildcats out lasted TCU 66-64 in overtime. Coach Bruce Weber said he was proud of the way they kept making plays.
There were 13 ties and 14 lead changes in the game. Kansas State’s Barry Brown scored the go-ahead layup with 11.2 seconds left in overtime, and Alex Robinson missed a pair of foul shots at the other end for TCU.
Makol Mawien finished with 16 points, and Xavier Sneed and Dean Wade scored 12 apiece and Barry Brown finished with 11 points for the fourth-seeded Wildcats.
Kansas advances to the semi-finals after out scoring Oklahoma State 82-68. The Jayhawks led at halftime 43-42 and out scored the Cowboys 39-26 in the 2nd half. Coach Bill Self said they played better in the 2nd half.
Malik Newman led the way with a game high and career high 30 points.
Svi Mykhailiuk added 13 points, Lagerald Vick added 11 points and Devonte Graham finished with 10 points.
Tip-off for Fridays game is set for 6pm.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM and on MIX 104.9.
In Thursdays other quarterfinal games Texas Tech defeated Texas 73-69.
And West Virginia out scored Baylor 78-65.
Texas Tech and West Virginia play the other semi-final.
The Big-12 Championship game will be played Saturday with tip-off at 5pm.
