Both Kansas and Wichita State suffered their first losses of the season Tuesday night.
Michigan State rallied for a 79-73 win over the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas had a 13-point lead twice in the first half and the Jayhawks were able to open a six-point halftime lead into another double-figure advantage with almost 10 minutes to play. Then Denzel Valentine took over. The Michigan State senior guard finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. 21 of those points came in the second half.

Perry Ellis led the Jayhawks with 21 points, Frank Mason III added 14 and Wayne Selden Jr. had 12. Kansas will next play Chaminade in Hawaii on Monday.
Tulsa upset Wichita State 77-67. The Shockers were playing catch up most of the night. Their biggest lead was by 5 and trailed most of the game.

The Shockers were led by Ron Baker with 23 points and Anton Grady with 18. All-conference guard Fred VanVleet, hobbled by a sprained ankle and sore hamstring, added 11. Wichita State will host Emporia State on Saturday.
