The Emporia High girls out scored Topeka Hayden 47-36 Friday night. The boys were out scored by Hayden 78-60.
The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 11-4 lead after the first quarter. They led 26-14 at halftime and led 39-18 going to the 4th quarter. Coach Carolyn Dorsey was pleased with the win.
Taylor Milleson was the leading scorer with 14 points. The Lady Spartans are now 9-9 for the season and 4-7 in league play.
Hayden won the boys game 78-60. The Wildcats hit 7 of 8 3 point shots in the1st quarter to take a 24-11 lead in the first quarter. Coach Beau Welchs team never did recover.
Ja’Len Carter led Emporia High with 18 points. Jay Wilson finished with 12 and Jace Stewart added 11. The Spartans fall to 12-6 for the season and 6-5 in league play.
Both the Emporia High girls and boys play at Topeka High Friday.
