The Emporia High boys basketball team advances to the Sub-State championship game after out scoring Maize South 63-53 Tuesday night.
The Spartans used a 10-0 run to start the 2nd half to overcome a 5 point halftime deficit and never trailed the rest of the game. Coach Beau Welch was pleased with the way his team responded in the second half.
Jay Wilson led the offense with a career high 24 points. Dylan Farr added 16 points and Ja’Len Carter finished with 10 points. The Spartans will play at Wichita Heigths the number 2 seed in 5A Friday night. Heights routed Salina South 64-23 in their semi-final game.
