#1 seed Kansas advanced to the elite 8 with a 80-76 win over Clemson Friday night.
The Jayhawks never trailed and led by as many as 20 points early in the 2nd half. Coach Bill Self was pleased with the first 30 minutes of play.
Malik Newman led 4 players in double-figures for Kansas with 17 points.
Devonta Graham finished with 16 points.
Udoka Azubuike had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Lagerald Vick finished with 13 points.
The Jayhawks will play Duke in what will be the nation’s only 1 vs. 2 regional final Sunday. The Blue Devils beat Syracuse 69-65. Sundays game will tip-off at 4:09.
In the East Regional #1 Villanova out scored West Virginia 90-78.
#3 Texas Tech scored the lone upset of the night in knocking off #2 Purdue 78-65. Texas Tech will face Villanova for the East crown Sunday.
