Lemurs at the David Traylor Zoo will have new digs to call home soon.
Work is now underway on the Mission Madagascar lemur exhibit which will let people see the zoo’s lemurs year-round instead of when it’s hot outside. On KVOE’s Newsmaker II segment Wednesday, Director Lisa Keith said ground has been broken and construction is underway. She says this is the result of a lengthy but wide-ranging community effort.

Besides giving the lemurs a new home, Mission Madagascar will also give people a better sense of the lemur’s original habitat and information about the dangers of habitat destruction.
Construction may go through the end of the year. Cost is over $400,000.
As that work continues, the zoo is preparing for a deluge of youngsters Thursday and Friday as part of the latest Safari Edventure program. Education Coordinator Colleen Mitchell:

Mitchell says the Zoo Education Center, zoo and parking lot will all be busy with demonstrations and presentations.
