Flint Hills Technical College is set to put a cap — and gown — on the academic year with spring commencement coming Sunday.
Spring commencement will be at 3 pm Sunday inside White Auditorium. There will be several COVID-19 mitigation strategies in place, and on KVOE’s Tech Talk with President Dean Hollenbeck this week, Dean of Enrollment Brenda Carmichael said one of the main lessons over the past 14 months has been never to take anything for granted — graduation ceremonies included.
The college is allowing six guests per graduate, but those guests need a ticket to get into the building. Masks and social distancing will be required. The event will also be live-streamed on the college’s Facebook page.
Emporia State, meanwhile, is tentatively planning for outdoor graduation activities Friday evening and Saturday morning, both at Welch Stadium for the first time in a decade. We’ll go through the commencement plans during KVOE’s ESU Buzz with President Allison Garrett at 8:20 am Thursday.
