Efforts to help families needing emergency housing through Family Promise of the Flint Hills took a step forward with the hire of a new agency director.
Jessica Corpening was formally announced as the new director last week after a Family Promise board meeting late last month. On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Corpening said her prior work as ECKAN’s human services coordinator will serve her well as she transitions to her new role.
Board member Bev Long says Corpening stood out among a talented group of applicants.
Family Promise began its local work five years ago. It is a national homeless sheltering program that works with churches, nonprofits and volunteers to help families. Family Promise does not have any brick-and-mortar housing, but it partners with churches and others — including hotels — to offer short-term space for those in need.
