The Emporia High softball team opened play in the Emporia Classic with a 3-1 win over Dodge City Friday.
The Lady Spartans tied the game in the 5th inning when Shaylee Ginter scored on a Maddyn Stewart single. Emporia High scored 2 more runs in the 6th on singles by Kaylee Reimer and Adriana Cruz Hernandez.
Rylea Harris was the winning pitcher, going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits with 8 strikeouts.
Emporia High will play Kapaun Mt. Carmel Saturday at 1:15 at Peter Pan Park.

Garden City 10 Kapaun Mt. Carmel 9 in 10 innings.
Blue Valley Southwest 20 Andover Central 4.
Saturdays schedule begins at 10am with Dodge City playing Andover Central.
At 11:45 Blue Valley Southwest plays Garden City.
