For the fourth consecutive year, Village Elementary is being recognized on a national scale for the impact staff have made on their students.
Village was recently named a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase School. The award, administered through the Flippen Group, is based on multiple criteria such as the implementation of Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes, the perceived climate and culture of the campus and a student survey that measures student attitude and connectedness to school.
Village Principal John Martin says he is very proud of the award and the work his staff does on a daily basis to ensure their students are fully prepared to learn. He says he has a little extra pride this year specifically given the extra challenges staff and students had to face over the past year given the COVID-19 pandemic.
When asked how the school goes about putting Capturing Kids Hearts practices into play within the building kindergarten teacher Jen McKay says it’s very simple, “the kids come first every day.”
