After four-plus years at the helm of Emporia’s Salvation Army, Major Deb Thompson has a new assignment waiting for her.
By the end of June, Thompson is going to Albert Lea, Minnesota. She says serving the Emporia area has been meaningful for her.
Thompson is from northern Iowa, and her new assignment is less than 50 miles away from home. She says assignments typically last around five years but can be shorter or longer, depending on the local situation.
Thompson replaced Lynn Lopez, who essentially swapped with Thompson in Salina and is moving to Beatrice, Nebraska, for her next assignment.
Lt. Mylie Hadden will come to Emporia at the end of June. She’s currently serving the Salvation Army in Pittsburg.
