Mike Crouch is running for re-election to the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education.
Crouch filed his paperwork Wednesday. Crouch has been on the board 16 years and is seeking his fifth term on the board. He tells KVOE News his personal situation has changed with his kids either well into the school system or graduated, but his desire to help kids remains strong.
Crouch, the board president, is the first person to file for election or re-election to the USD 253 school board. Current incumbents Doug Epp and Melissa Ogleby have not filed for re-election at this time.
With the number of incumbents, at least 10 candidates would be needed to force a primary election Aug. 3.
Meanwhile, Lynn McAllister has filed for USD 251 North Lyon County District 2 Position 5., a seat currently held by incumbent Tim Burton. The district also has District 1 Position 4, held by Tammie Reed, and District 3 Position 6, held by Mitchell Maxfield, up for election. None of the incumbents have filed for re-election.
Also, incumbent Mary Ann Newton has filed for Reading City Council. She is the first candidate on that particular ballot. Fellow incumbent Heather Jones has not filed for re-election at this time.
The filing deadline is at noon June 1.
