Minor injuries and significant damage were the result of a crash near the Kansas Turnpike’s Flint Hills cattle pens exit Monday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a car driven by 20-year-old Svanna Gipson of Olathe crashed at mile marker 109, about two miles southwest of the cattle pens exit, shortly before 1 pm. Gipson was northbound and got distracted for unspecified reasons. Her car hit the median barrier, damaging five sections of the wall and gouging the road in the process.
Gipson complained of pain afterward but did not go to a hospital. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
