The Emporia State baseball team swept a doubleheader from Fort Hays State Saturday.
The Hornets won the first game 13-3 in 7 innings. Chandler Bloomer and Christian Roduner both drove in 3 runs. Jared Kengott was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits with 8 strikeouts.
Emporia State won the 2nd game 13-3 in 8 innings. Christan Roduner had another big game, hitting for the cycle.
Chandler Bloomer and Sam Chaput also hit home runs for the Hornets. Drew Repp was the winning pitcher.
The Emporia State baseball team kept their MIAA tournament hopes alive with the 3 game sweep of Fort Hays State.
The Hornets are in 8th place in the MIAA Standings after this weekend. They go to Pittsburg State for the final series of the season beginning Friday.
Coach Seth Wheeler says they have to play with the same mentality they did against Fort Hays State.
The Hornets go into the final week with an 11-19 record in the MIAA. They are tied with Northwest Missouri State but have the tiebreaker due to a 2-1 record against the Bearcats.
The Hornets are also 2 games back of Rogers State for 7th place.
Northwest Missouri State plays Washburn and Rogers State plays Missouri Southern.
