The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Washburn Sunday.
Emporia State won the first game 6-3. The Lady Hornets scored 4 of the runs in the 7th inning. Brittanie Shepherd drove in 2 of the runs with a single.
Kelsey Phillips was the winning pitcher giving up 3 runs on 9 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Washburn won the 2nd game 4-2. Emporia State scored a run in the first. Washburn scored 2 runs in both the 3rd and 5th innings. Alexis Dial hit a home run to lead off the 7th for Emporia State. The Lady Hornets would leave the bases loaded, for the game they stranded 10 base runners.
Monday the Emporia State softball team plays at Missouri Southern.
