Conservation efforts in Kansas through Ducks Unlimited are getting a huge boost from the federal government.
Kansas Senator Roger Marshall has announced a $2 million grant award as well as a better than $2 million matching amount to conserve bird populations and wetlands across the state, including the KVOE listening area. Close to 4,200 acres have been targeted for improvements across the state.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service’s Migratory Bird Conservation Commission approved the grants under the North American Wetlands Conservation Act.
Word on local or area projects is currently pending.
