Who’s ready for a return for winter this week?
The process starts with light snow Monday night. It continues with a hard freeze now expected for Tuesday night. TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says there could be slick travels for the commute Tuesday morning.
Overnight lows could get down to 31 degrees Monday night and into the upper 20s Tuesday night. The temperatures could kill crops and other sensitive plants. It could also damage any unprotected outdoor plumbing.
A winter weather advisory is up for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 10 pm Monday to 10 am Tuesday, with a freeze watch for those counties from 9 pm Tuesday to 10 am Wednesday. Chase and Greenwood counties are both in a freeze watch from 1-10 am Wednesday, while Chase County is also in a winter weather advisory from midnight to 10 am Tuesday.
