An elderly man was hurt in a crash near Emporia’s west city limits Saturday afternoon.
Lyon County Deputy Doug Stump tells KVOE News 92-year-old Hau Wong was on the southbound onramp onto the Kansas Turnpike but didn’t follow the curve to the highway. Instead, Wong drove down the embankment and through a field before getting his car wedged in US Highway 50’s westbound ditch. Stump says the car traveled an estimated 200 yards before coming to an apparently sudden stop.
An ambulance crew took Wong to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. Stump says the early indications are injuries were not life-threatening.
The reason behind the crash is under investigation.
