Fire finished what landowners started as a hay barn was destroyed northwest of Bushong on Tuesday.
The fire at 297 Road 370, about six miles northwest of Bushong, was reported shortly before 3 pm. Lyon County Deputy Doug Stump says the landowners had already started demolishing the barn when the fire started and brought the structure down to the ground.
It’s currently unclear how the fire started, but the cause appears to be accidental in nature. Allen-Admire and Dunlap firefighters responded and monitored the fire to ensure it wouldn’t spread to nearby structures.
Stump says there was nothing of value inside the barn when the fire started.
