Emporia is playing host to a statewide conference Wednesday.
White Auditorium and the Lee Beran Recreation Center will be housing the annual Kansas Parks and Recreation Association conference throughout the day Wednesday. The day’s activities will include a number of breakout sessions, tours and an awards banquet.
Emporia Rec Director Tom McEvoy says even more exciting than hosting the conference is the opportunity to “show off” the Emporia community. McEvoy also credits the Emporia Recreation Commission’s close partnership with local health professionals as a key for making the conference possible.
Conference attendees began arriving Tuesday with a number of welcoming activities on the calendar Tuesday evening. Activities include a disc golf tournament at Hammond Park and a cornhole tournament at the Bourbon Cowboy.
The conference will begin at 8:30 am.
