Board members for USD 252 Southern Lyon County began formal talks on whether to adjust the district’s Local Option Budget percentage as part of their meeting Monday night.
Superintendent Mike Argabright says the district doesn’t plan to act until June, but this is a good time to start the conversation.
The district currently has a 31 percent LOB. This revenue stream is designed to be supplementary money and can be as high as 33 percent of the state’s general fund revenue coming into a district. Argabright says the LOB line item is important because it can be used as discretionary funding.
In other business, the board got an update on the district’s ongoing COVID-19 response. Argabright says the district has made no major changes to its operations after the Lyon County Commission removed most aspects of the county’s public health order nearly two weeks ago. In fact, plans are moving forward to have in-person proms and graduations later this year.
