Moderate increases in new and active COVID-19 cases were noted in Lyon County Public Health’s first data set of the week.
Public Health reported four new cases bringing the overall total since late last March to 4,201. Three new recoveries were reported with the active case total increasing by one to 28.
The number of deaths remained at 85 with one case pending final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. There are no active hospitalizations.
As the pandemic continues, so to does Lyon County’s noncongregate housing option, however, it will be shifting locations. Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell tells KVOE News the noncongregate setting will be moving to Eleven Boutique, located at 3021 West Highway 50 in Emporia, from the Hampton Inn at 2900 Eaglecrest Drive.
An exact reason for the change in location has not been given. KVOE News has reached out to the state for more information on the situation.
Noncongregate housing has been available in Emporia for those needing it since last April.
