The Emporia State baseball team split a doubleheader with Washburn Saturday.
The Hornets won the first game 13-10. They scored 8 runs in the top of the 9th inning to help overcome a 10-1 deficit.
Brigham Mooney drove in 5 runs in the game, 2 with a home run in the 8th inning, and 3 with a double in the 9th inning.
Noah Geekie hit a solo home run in the 5th that started the 12 run rally.
Washburn won the 2nd game 5-4. Emporia State had built a 4-0 lead scoring a run in the 1st inning. They added 2 runs in the 4th and a run in the 5th on a Chandler Bloomer home run.
Washburn rallied with 2 runs in the 5th and 6th innings and scored the go-ahead run in the 8th inning.
Washburn won the series 2 games to 1.
The Emporia State baseball team is now 11-16 for the season and 7-14 in the MIAA. They are scheduled to host Pittsburg State in a non-conference game Tuesday.
