Emporia Firefighters were called to just west of the Emporia Water Treatment plant twice Saturday afternoon and evening.
The original call brought fire crews to the 2900 block of West 24th Ave after a patch of grass caught fire between two homes just west of the Water Treatment plant shortly after 3 pm. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Bill Harmon says the fire scorched less than two acres of grass and the cause has yet to be determined.
The fire did not cause any injuries or damage to structures.
Crews would return to the same area shortly after 8:30 pm after the fire rekindled and burned a tree. Crews again extinguished the fire quickly and no injuries or damage to structures were reported.
