The replacement process is now underway at Flinthills Mall as work continues to restore full water service to mall businesses.
Crews from Plumbing by Spellman have pulled out the 8-inch water line responsible for a lengthy water leak as well as the issues that have shut off the water for the south half of the mall since Tuesday. Mall manager Clarence Frye is still hoping repairs can be finished by late afternoon, allowing affected businesses to return to normal operations.
Water seepage had been noted for about 10 days before Spellman started initial repairs Tuesday. The initial work went well until the mall pressurized the lines Wednesday afternoon.
The mall as a whole has maintained its normal business hours all week, and so far just a handful of businesses have announced changes to their operations. DaVita has been adjusting patient schedules since Wednesday. Crystal Nails is tentatively closed until Monday. B&B Theatres is closed until further notice.
