Things will be hoppenin’ in Emporia with Easter weekend activities.
The Flint Hills Optimists have adjusted their annual activity for children, forgoing the traditional Easter egg hunt for a drive-thru candy handoff. Club member Matt Fowler had details on the Easter Bunny Drive-Thru on KVOE’s Morning Show this week:
Parents need to enter Jones Park from the Prairie Street entrance. The event goes from 10 am until the candy is gone.
Also, Emporia Main Street has an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt from 10 am to 5 pm. Director Casey Woods says over 20 businesses downtown will be involved.
Participating businesses will have decorated eggs with numbers on them. People need to find the eggs and write down the egg number on a special passport available at the businesses. Passports can be turned in to Trox Gallery and Gifts either Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm or Monday morning for prizes. Passports must be at least half-full to be eligible for prizes. Passports can be downloaded for printout at www.emporiamainstreet.com.

*Cottonwood Falls has a local Easter egg hunt at 10 am Saturday at the Recreation Ball Fields.
