The Emporia High baseball team opened their season with a doubleheader sweep of Highland Park Thursday.
The Spartans won the first game 12-8.
Emporia High scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure the win.
Kadyn Williams and Vance Kinsey both drove in 2 runs.
Logan Thomas was 3 for 4 and Drew Hess was 2 for 3.
Ethan Garate earned was the winning pitcher.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 19-1 in 3 innings. They scored 13 runs in the 2nd inning.
Bobby Trujillo drove in 5 runs.
Kadyn Williams hit a solo home run and was the winning pitcher.
Emporia High Coach Anthony Markowitz said they showed improvement.
The Spartans will host Junction City Tuesday.
