The Kansas City Royals open their season Thursday afternoon hosting the Texas Rangers.
The Royals will be without Adalberto Mondesi he has been placed on the 10-day Injured List with a right oblique strain. In a corresponding move, Nicky Lopez has been recalled from the alternate site and start at shortstop.
Royals manager Mike Matheny said the rest of the starting line-up for the most part is what was expected.
Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals.
The first pitch is set for 3:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 2:30 pm.
